Massachusetts driver suffers major injury after truck accident

Sharing the road with large semi-trucks can make driving a daunting experience. Accidents involving semi-trailers can often have tragic results for those driving in smaller passenger vehicles. A recent truck accident in Massachusetts resulted in major injury to a driver and was responsible for blocking the road for several hours.

The early morning incident occurred recently in Newton. The big rig apparently jackknifed, blocking several lanes of traffic and pinned a smaller passenger truck underneath its' trailer. The driver of the smaller truck, a 24-year-old male, had to be cut out of his vehicle. He was rushed to the hospital with significant injuries. His current condition is unknown.

Officials do not appear to know what caused the crash at this time. The truck driver, a 34-year-old male, was not injured in the event. The road was closed for several hours while police and clean up crews worked in the area. Local authorities are still investigating the incident. It is unknown if any charges have been filed against the truck driver.

Thankfully, the victim has so far survived his injuries from this horrible event, but his road to a full recovery could be long and expensive. He may be entitled to file a personal injury claim against the truck driver and/or their employer to seek compensation for the financial losses that he may endure due to this event. A Massachusetts civil court could -- if liability is established -- grant him monetary relief to help cover his medical expenses and loss of income, as well as compensation for the pain and suffering that may result from his major injury.
